Biography

Samuel Gabra is Director of the Aviation Impact Accelerator (AIA), where he leads the organisation’s work to accelerate the journey to climate-neutral aviation through whole-system modelling. Since joining the AIA in 2022, he has played a key role in shaping the UK’s sustainable aviation agenda, including leading the modelling underpinning the UK Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mandate and delivering major research projects with industry and government departments such as Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and Department of Transport (DfT).

 

His work focuses on energy challenges at the intersection of technology, policy, and economics, with particular interests in energy security and sustainability. Samuel previously led the AIA’s analysis team and now oversees a multidisciplinary group spanning technical and policy expertise.

 

He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and an MPhil in Energy Technologies (Distinction, top of class) from the University of Cambridge.
